यह एक 10-11 वर्ष के लड़के के ऊपर वाले दांतों की तस्वीर है…वह पहली बार किसी डैंटिस्ट के पास आया है क्योंकि उस के आगे वाला दांत बाहर की तरफ़ निकला हुआ है जो उसे अच्छा नहीं लगता और उस की क्लास के दूसरे छात्र अब उस का मज़ाक उड़ाने लगे हैं।
तालू पर उग चुका एक्स्ट्रा दांत
यह तस्वीर मैंने यहां पर इस लिये लगाई ताकि वही पुरानी बात को एक बार फिर से याद दिलाया जा सके कि बच्चों के दांतों का भी नियमित चैक-अप बहुत ज़रूरी है।
इस बच्चे के दांतों में कोई खास बात नहीं थी ..बस उस के तालू की तरफ़ एक एक्स्ट्रा दांत निकल आया जिस की वजह से उस के अगले दांत ने बाहर की तरफ़ खिसकना शुरू कर दिया। यह एक्स्ट्रा दांत उस के मुंह में सात-आठ वर्ष की उम्र से ही निकलना शुरू हो गया था –अगर किसी डैंटिस्ट के पास इसे लेकर जाया जाता तो वह इसे तुरंत निकाल देता और ऊपर वाला आगे वाला दांत अपनी जगह पर ही आ जाता।
इस तरह के एक्स्ट्रा दांत बिल्कुल छोटे साइज़ के होते हैं और इन्हें उखड़वाने में बिल्कुल भी दिक्कत नहीं आती — इस तस्वीर में आप देख सकते हैं कि यह कितने छोटे साइज का दांत है … इसे हम लोग डैंटल भाषा में Mesio-dens भी कहते हैं।
अब इस एक्सट्रा दांत के उखड़ने के बाद कुछ तो उस आगे सरके हुए दांत की पोजीशन में फर्क पड़ेगा लेकिन इस केस में यह लग रहा है कि पूरी तरह से वह सही जगह नहीं ले पाएगा, क्योंकि उस के वापिस मुड़ने के लिए न तो जगह ही है और न ही अनुकूल वातावरण है, इसलिये इस आगे सरके हुये दांत को अपनी जगह पर लाने के लिये आरथोडोंटिक इलाज (जिस में ब्रेसेज़ आदि लगाये जाते हैं) भी करवाना पड़ सकता है, मेरा अनुभव यही कहता है कि विभिन्न कारणों की वजह से इस तरह का इलाज अधिकतर लोगों की पहुंच से बाहर ही होता है, इसलिये बेहतरी इसी में है कि सभी लोग नियमित अपने दांतों का निरीक्षण छःमहीने में एक बार करवाते रहें।
